A note on content...
Through my experience with the eMINTS program I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people and find some amazing resources. I plan to share the items I use on a regular basis, as well as other helpful/useful information here. If you have any questions about using anything provided here feel free to shoot me an email. Most of the items created by me were made collaboratively with other teachers or based on amazing information found online. If credit is due, please let me know!
(Free) Web Resources
Edmodo - I use this every single day in my classroom. It's an amazing free resource where students can submit assignments, work in small groups, send me a message if I'm gone for the day or even if they're just at home. You can also share resources and save files in your "Library". If you haven't checked it out - you're missing something pretty awesome.
Schoology - Similar platform to Edmodo, just has a few different features. Students can still turn in homework, access resources, send you notes, etc., but you can also hold discussions here (and grade their discussion responses), which as of right now (8/13) isn't available on Edmodo.
Quizlet - I use this with my Honors and Dual Credit classes. I like that they have review style games for the kids to use before a test (or all the time) to really help them learn the vocabulary.
PollEverywhere - Use this to do a quick poll/survey with your students. They can respond via text message or web.
Glogster - I've used this in the past with students to create virtual posters. You need a good strong internet connection though to avoid running into loading/saving problems.
Keepvid - Need to download a YouTube video? Do it here....OR...
Savevid - here...(they both work to save videos you find online to your computer so you don't have to (shhh....) stream!
Audacity - Record audio in so many ways - edit it - play with it - have fun. This free program does SO much!
Jing - Ever need to show someone exactly what you're seeing on your screen? If a simple screenshot won't work use this free resource to record what you're doing on your computer and send it to them (in a link) to see instantly!
Screencastomatic - Use this to record what you're doing on your screen - this tool also gives you the ability to put your face on the screen for your students to see, too. It also highlights your mouse so it's easier for students to follow along with what you're doing on the screen.
Livebinder - Keep a virtual collection of links, documents, etc. for each class, or have your students create a portfolio using Livebinders!
